Biography
Jim Gaffigan is a true triple-threat having achieved major milestones in stand-up, acting and writing.
As a stand-up comedian, Jim’s clever, quiet style has earned him numerous appearances on both
CBS’ “Late Show With David Letterman” and NBC’s “Late Night With Conan O’Brien.” His
“Comedy Central Presents: Jim Gaffigan” half hour special remains one of the highest-rated for all
stand-up specials on the network and he has been featured at HBO’s prestigious US Comedy
Arts Festival in Aspen and the world renowned Just For Laughs International Comedy Festival
in Montreal.
In late 2004, Comedy Central Records added the CD/DVD Doing My Time to Jim’s previously
released comedy CDs, The Last Supper and More Moo-Moo’s. All are available on his
website, www.JimGaffigan.com.
In the fall of 2005, Image Entertainment recorded Jim’s performance at the historic Vic Theater
in Chicago for release as a DVD entitled Beyond The Pale. Comedy Central will debut Beyond
The Pale as a prestigious One Hour Special on January 29, 2006 to support the release of the
DVD on February 7, 2006. Comedy Central Records will also release Beyond The Pale as
a CD on February 7.
After Jim's first appearance on “The Late Show With David Letterman,” Mr. Letterman personally
chose Jim to develop his own sitcom for World Wide Pants. A year and half later, “Welcome
to New York” debuted on CBS to critical acclaim. The Wall Street Journal declared Jim "a true find"
and TV Guide nominated Jim for Best Actor in a New Sitcom. Jim then co-starred with
Ellen DeGeneres on her CBS sitcom “The Ellen Show.” Jim has had recurring roles on
FOX's “That 70s Show” and NBC's “Ed” and has had numerous roles on “Law and Order,”
“Sex and the City,” “Third Watch” and “Hope & Faith” among others. Jim will be featured
as a cast member of the new TBS series, “My Boys,” which is scheduled to debut in December
of 2006.
Jim has appeared in more than two dozen feature films ranging from big budget hits
(Three Kings, Road Trip) to Indies (Final, Igby Goes Down, Entropy). Jim appeared in
several films chosen for the Sundance Film Festival, including Super Troopers and Thirty Years
to Life and will return to Sundance in 2006 in the drama Stephanie Daley alongside Tilda
Swinton and Timothy Hutton. On June 23, Jim will star with Maggie Gyllenhaal, Edie Falco,
and Tony Shalhoub in "The Great New Wonderful,” which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival
in 2005. Jim will be seen in the upcoming film “The Living Wake.”
Many recognize Jim from his numerous award-winning commercial campaigns, which include
Rolling Rock, ESPN, Saturn and recently Sierra Mist. Jim's commercial presence had such
an impact that for 1999 Business Week declared him "Salesman of The Year."
